North Vietnam Motorbike Tour Detailed:
Day 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau Valley (Hoa Binh)
Day 2: Mai Chau - Phu Yen (Son La)
Day 3: Phu Yen - Vu Linh village ( Thac Ba lake, Yen Bai)
Day 4: Thac Ba Lake - Hanoi
DAY 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau Valley ( Hoa Binh - L, D ) 180 KM
Our motorcycle tour will be leaving all the hustle and bustle of the Metropolitan city to head out for Mai Chau. To the West of Hanoi we drive to the QL6 which leads you to the scenic roads and you can take scenic photos along the way. We will take a rest stop for lunch before travelling through the Thung Khe pass. One of the most highlight Vietnam motorbike tour
The pass is on an altitude of about 1000 meter above sea level, cutting through mountain cliffs with a perfect curve. You will get chilly at the top of the pass then see a spectacular view of Mai Chau Valley.
Mai Chau is a mountainous district in Hoa Binh province nestling in the lush valley surrounded by the green paddy fields and the Thai tribes – an ethnic minority here.
Take your own pace walk around, dive into the nature, visit the Thai community. We dine out together then admire the Thai traditional Xoe dances. Overnight in a stilt house.

DAY 2: MAI CHAU - PHU YEN BY MOTORBIKE
You will find most peaceful as waking up early in the morning, enjoying purely fresh air, listening to the birds’ songs that surely enrich your soul. Then sipping a cup of tea, having light breakfast to fuel your second day is a good idea. You can just take it easy, stroll around the village, get acquaintance with the villager, find out more about the Thai weaving art which is still well-preserved for generations.
Afterwards, the Vietnam motorbike tour continues to Moc Chau in which we stop for lunch. Staying here for a while, you have chance to see the beautiful and endless green tea plants and feel the coolness out there. Then we drive to the QL.43 and reach Phu Yen - a town located to the Northeast of Son La province. Stay overnight in a local hotel.

DAY 3: PHU YEN - THAC BA LAKE BY MOTORBIKE
On your third day Northern Vietnam Motorcycle Tour, the guide will escort you from Phu Yen to Thac Ba lake. On the way, the group will drive through the Lung Lo Pass which is a location connecting Son La and Yen Bai province with many legends about wartime.
58 years ago, this historic pass was the main road that help sending troops, foods and other supplies for soldiers of the revolutionary army to fight against the fortification of Dien Bien Phu. In 2011, this pass was recognized as a national historic relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Coming to Lung Lo pass you will get more about Vietnamese’s resilience.
Keep riding your motorbike, our last destination today is Thac Ba Lake in Yen Bai province. Lake was named after Thac Ba hydropower plant construction in 1971. Thac Ba Lake is famous for its eco-system. Thac Ba reservoir covers a total area of 23.400 ha, of which 19.05 ha is water area and the remaining 4.35ha of islets on the Reservoir. This artificial lake has 1,331 islands and hills with various ecological environments.
You can do a boat trip to visit Thuy Tien cave, Xuan Long cave, some islands or discover pristine forest and rocky mountains. Then we go the Vu Linh village – a home to Dao ethnic minority. Especially, our group will celebrate and cheer the dinner together, taste some local specialties, try home-made liquor.

DAY 4: VIETNAM MOTORBIKE TOUR THAC BA - HANOI
Please fill your stomach with great breakfast served by the family, Say goodbye the most hospitable hosts in Vu Linh village before jumping on our motorcycle and have great riding back to Hanoi along the Red River. WHAT TO BRING?
Documents:
- PASSPORT (valid for 6 months with at least 2 consecutive blank pages.
- DRIVER’S LICENSE
- INTERNATIONAL DRIVERS LICENSE.
- MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE. Bring contact number and policy Make sure that helicopter medevac is included.
- CREDIT CARD: there are ATM’s in Hanoi. Payment with card only in Hanoi.
- CASH (US$) Bring cash US$ or take from a ATM. You can change for Vietnamese Dong.
- VISA: Please check Visa requirements for your country of origin, prior to travel as for most countries a visa is needed. A visa application form before departure is needed (some countries are exempted) when staying longer than 15 days.
Bring this together with 2 x photo 4×6 cm. with a white colour back-ground. Bring the visa letter as well.
Gear/clothes:
- Protective riding gear (suit, helmet, gloves, etc). The temperature can fluctuate between 26 Celsius (Hanoi) and 5 C° up in the mountains when it’s raining.
- Bring hard (enduro) boots with ankle protection. It will safe your leg/ankle!
- Sunglasses and sunscreen
- Light rain gear /rain jacket. Temperatures can drop when riding on high altitude or when raining.
- Casual wear for evening dinners and non-riding days.
- Warm fleece and hat for our cooler days/evenings
- Camelbags/Hydration back-pack. Highly recommended! Necessary very handy to prevent dehydration (also to prevent altitude sickness).
- These magnificent views you want to capture!
- Head-light. Some home-stays have no electricity during the night.
- Travel sheets/thin sleeping bag/travel pillow. Can be useful when staying in the home-stays.
- Power pack. As a back-up for charging you electronic equipment/phone.
