Preview Of The Motorcycle Tour

Distance: 800 km

Accommodation: Homestays + Hotel + Mini-hotel

Motorbike Route: HA NOI - MOC CHAU - SON LA - DIEN BIEN PHU - MUONG LAY - LAI CHAU - SA PA - HA NOI

The Northloop Motorbike Tour’s main goal is to visit historical military locations associated with the French taking control of Indochina. As a result, we prefer to make the greatest progress on paved roads, with occasional detours off the main path to provide variety to the journey.

We can adjust the amount of dirt if necessary, and we will consult with the team. There's a decent fusion of simple and more difficult road surfaces, landscapes, and ethnic people from the region. You'll head west and uphill before circling North to Sa Pa, where you'll have the opportunity to summit Fansipan, also known as the 'Roof of Indochina'.

Day 1: Hanoi To Moc Chau Motorbike Trip

Distance: 188.2 km

Riding time: About 4 hours

You leave the magnificent capital behind. The high-rise buildings gradually become sparse before your eyes. You head straight to Hoa Binh province! The 1st day will be a long day. But you will feel peace right after the bigger space opens up in front of your eyes.

The wind blowing in your ears makes you realize you've come to the land of peace! You can take a small tour here in Hoa Binh by visiting Vietnam's largest hydroelectric dam and the historic French roadway.

If the timing is correct, you'll likely witness schoolchildren riding electric bicycles across the Hoa Binh hydroelectric dam, waving "hello" to strangers like you!

From Hoa Binh, we begin ascending and ultimately reach the Son La province - Moc Chau Plateau.

The Moc Chau Plateau hosts the first night of a seven-day excursion on one of Vietnam's most stunning motorbike tours! You'll rest and sleep at a homestay surrounded by plum and peach orchards.

Day 2: Moc Chau To Son La Motorbike Route

Distance: 114.9 km

Riding time: About 2.3 hours

The second day of the Northloop Motorbike Tour is about moving from Moc Chau to another place in Son La.

Son La is the heart of the North of Vietnam, with endless green tea hills. In the spring, plum blossoms and cherry blossoms bloom throughout the forest. The stretching roads, clean air, and the sincere smiles of the local people make you feel like a revival from the hardships of life!

It seems to be a straight path, but to make your route even more exciting and a better experience, you can try some other roads, get off the tarmac and move on with the smaller but quiet beaten track. The route is a relaxing road to ride regarding the distance and the time you have! You will have more time to get to the final destination.

In the afternoon, you will have a chance to visit the well-known historical place - Son La jail. The place is famous as Hell on Earth. It is a significant revolutionary artifact that bears evidence of the Vietnamese people's unwavering patriotism. You will feel a bit chill and meaningful when witnessing the 2,170m2 of the historical vestige.

After a tiring day of riding, you will also spend the night in town to enjoy local specialties.

Day 3: Son La To Dien Bien Phu Motorcycle Trip

Distance: 151 km

Riding time: About 3.3 hours

On the third day of our Military Sweep motorbike tour, you will arrive in Dien Bien Phu, an important point contributing to the independence of Vietnam in history!

If you choose AH14 to continue your trip, the Pha Din Pass will welcome you. It is as well-known as the spectacular mountain pass because it has become one of the four biggest peaks in Northern Vietnam that every biker is thirsty to pass by! Because of the twisting route and the absence of traffic, it's a fantastic road to ride.

All the above magnificent views will make you feel reluctant to leave. However, don't forget you're getting closer to the historic site!

Dien Bien Phu is the closest major town to the Laos border crossing at Tay Trang. The province had historical significance as the Vietnamese triumph site against the French in 1954. Around the place are many hotels and dining choices, several wartime sights, and an interesting food market.

You can spend the night at a local hotel and enjoy some of Dien Bien Phu's best specialties. Dien Bien Phu boasts an abundance of diverse flavors in gastronomy. Fresh bamboo shoots, jerky or buffalo meat, etc.

Listen to historical stories of heroic people, and enjoy delicious food with unique recipes. You will have a memorable night here!

Day 4: Dien Bien Phu To Muong Lay Motorbike Tour

Distance: 90 km

Riding time: About 2.5 hours

The 4th day of the route is simple but full of anticipation! Why?

Because you can look at the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum and visit Muong Lay. Muong Lay is a well-known location with dreamlike beauty and unbelievable stories about a historical and cultural domain's ups and downs.

The ride in the valley is straightforward. However, the interesting scenery along the way compensates for the shortage of complexity. If we want to go a little farther today and see the Sin Ho district, you can take a tour on the way. The unspoiled natural splendor and rough mountain terrain await you.

At night, we will stay in a riverfront guesthouse. Sleep tight at the spectacular view before coming to the majestic place tomorrow!

Lai Chau Province
San Thang Market, Lai Chau Province, Vietnam - September 22, 2019

Day 5: Muong Lay To Lai Chau Motorcycle Route

Distance: 104.4 km

Riding time: About 2.14 hours

You will have a quiet motorcycle journey to get through today. Cross straight through Sin Ho, and you will arrive at the destination. Even though it is a calmer road, it is a strenuous ascent up the slope through difficult and scenic terrain. Then, due to time limits and potential risks like landslides, we loop back to Lai Chau and decide which routes across the pass are feasible.

Day 6: Lai Chau To Sa Pa Motorbike Trip

Distance: 70 km

Riding time: About 1.5 hours

The 6th day is a short ride, but it allows us to take photos and spend the day ascending Fansipan (of course not by motorbike; we will use the cable car to simplify the route) before returning to the hotel. Then, it is the time to spoil yourself with delectable cuisine.

Day 7: Sa Pa To Hanoi Motorcycle Tour

Distance: 300 km

Riding time: About 5 hours

The riding time seems long; however, you do not have to finish all of the distance by your motorbike. We ride motorbike long way down to our destination - Lao Cai, the location where we will meet up with our team to leave the motorcycles there.

We next board a VIP minivan to return to our Hanoi hotel, where we prepare for the goodbye dinner later that evening. The choice for the last day is to eliminate perilous travel from Lao Cai province to Hanoi city if we ride back to the capital all by ourselves.

If you would like some noise, you can go around Hanoi to enjoy the lively city of Vietnam again. Some bar, pub in Ta Hien, or free music at Pedestrian Zone may intrigue you!

After a long journey, what's better than soaking up the beat with the locals singing a song and cracking cold one with your partners and locals before heading back to your hometown?

We know that only seven days can not fulfill your hunger for Vietnam motorbike tours, so don't forget to take a look at another motorbike tour in Vietnam!
