Tour Itinerary
The ideal way to see the city is to walk about the old district and have a peaceful coffee at our Italian-style café, which overlooks St. Joseph's Cathedral, known for its iconic French colonial design. Following that, we head to the track to get a good look at how the locals live and work and how near their homes are to this busy railway line.
After a short Vespa ride near Huu Tiep Lake, we meet Gia Kiem, a fascinating elderly local who tells stories from the past with us at an ancient temple. The B52 crash site near the lake is then reached after a short walk via typical market streets. A sad reminder of recent history, this US aircraft was shot down during the Ha Noi bombing attacks of 1972.
It's back on the Vespas for a journey to Ngoc Ha Market, where we'll spend the day walking around this massive, bustling market and soaking in the vivid atmosphere that defines Ha Noi.
We next proceed to the Long Bien Bridge, a spectacular landmark on the Ho Hoan Kiem Lake created over a century ago. It mostly links the districts of Hoan Kiem and Long Bien, but there is also a section beneath it where residents who live on boats may live. We'll ride our motorcycles across this massive bridge that crosses the lake from side to side.
After that, we'll go through a historical wall with a mosaic artwork design before arriving at Kumquat Farm, where people produce a variety of fruits and vegetables. Kumquat trees have been planted in practically every yard because they represent good fortune, prosperity, fertility and peace.
