8 Days Of Northern Laos Motorbike Tours

Ready for a rustic and equally inspirational off-road motorbike trip across the new land? Let's get your journey started with Luang Prabang and more!

Day 1: Luang Prabang - Xieng Hone Motorbike Tour (180 km)

In these first 130 kilometers of our Laos Motorbike Tours, you will experience one of the most hair-raising rides, crossing through high mountain ridges. As such, what we undergo is a wondrous expedition on the No 1A route, heading West over sloppy and downy rough paths.

The ferry then takes us over the Mekong River, arriving at Sayaboury Province. Coming after that is an inherent lunch awaiting in the religious capital you can surely no way resist.

It hasn't taken a halt. Next, your riding skills are doubtless a thing to save in the bank for the exploration of the untouched Laotian jungle!

Day 2: Xieng Hone - Houai Say Motorbike Tour (180 km)

After a day hanging around in the teak forests (or bumping into the Elephant festival - if you got lucky traveling in February) and a night spent in a local guest-house, the following ride is toward White Elephant Valley.

Believe us; you would better wish for it not to rain, so our 93-kilometer excursion along the border with Thailand to the Mekong River could be less burdensome.

From there on, we shall rent a boat to traverse the river, and there we make it to Houay Say before evening!

Day 3: Houai Say - Golden Triangle Motorbike Tour (170 km)

Half a day passed with Mahout and catching a glimpse of elephants at Houay Say may leave you with a lasting impression. Now let's cool your heels and move on to the jaunt to the illustrious Golden Triangle.

Once hit the region, not only will you gain a chance to acquire intriguing historical facts about it (being a shelter of opium poppies' acres growing, for example), but you may also behold the allure of the tranquil and small Yao and Akha ethnic minorities' villages.

At the close of the trek, we'll ride along the Mekong River and head to Muang Meung.

Day 4: Muong Meung - Nam Ha National Park (Luang Namtha) Motorbike Tour (150 km)

A Motorbike ride to Nam Ha National Park is another bright spot for our motorcycle tours Laos

Along the off-road trip, you will catch a fair fortune to be apprised of ravishing sunrise springs up right above the peaceful river.

Savor the moment as much as you can before we reach Xieng Kok, but watch out, anyway! There is a high likelihood that the chickens and cows loafing around in chaos will be a huge challenge as you pass by the area.

Keep up with the trek; we shall have a lift across the magnificent rainforest to get to Luang Namtha. There, a pleasing meet-up with hill tribes of Hmong, Akha, Lu, and Tai Dam people and a delightful local lunch with dried beef and sticky rice will be all set ahead for you to take a grab!

Day 5: A Rest Day At Luang Namtha (visit around, massaging, relaxing)

Several-day-long wandering on your motorbike must have made you exhausted by then. That's why here comes a break for you to re-energize yourself from top to bottom with a full-package resting service at a Luang Namtha hotel.

Day 6: Luang Namtha - Na Mor (Boun Tai) Motorbike Trip (130 km)

Showing up next in this motorcycle tour is an even more severe traveling condition. The road is deserted and barely has a whole sound stretch. You can make it through the way, but the situation will compel us to slow down to form the best safety in the reach.

Spending the majority of the day riding through primarily forest-covered mountains, passing through numerous incredibly primitive hill-tribe communities where ladies still walk around topless will be a foreseen scenery to look forward to.

Better yet, we can also pay a visit to the ruins of an old French Legionnaire fort in the village of Boun Tai, which are in a condition of absolute destruction.

Day 7: Boun Tai - Muang Khoua Motorbike Tour (110 km and 4-hour boat trip)

Compared to others, this day is kind of a smooth gain. Except for 70-km jaunting on Downey road, you won't have much to be tired of.

Rather, it would be fascinating to observe the market in Boun Tai early in the morning. Then, we'll pass through a number of Lao Thung villages, which are home to ethnic groups from the middle of the country.

From the crossroads, taking a rare nice paved road to Muang Khoun, where we board our boat, will be the next task for us to behold stunning river sights and landscapes along the banks.

Day 8: Nong Khiaw - Pak Xeng Motorbike Trip (230 km)

This very last day on these Laos motorbike tours will necessitate a sufficient health condition to go hiking in the center of the mountains.

Once you get done with the tramping mission, there is a possibility you may run into two separate hill tribes, the Khamu and the Hmong. The Khamu reside in the middle of the mountain range, whereas the Hmong settle in a remote mountain range far apart from the rest of the world.

The total distance covered in one day will be over 230 kilometers, with 130 kilometers of slalom between the mid and high-mountain settlements on ridges.

Finally, we arrive at the Luang Prabang town - the World Heritage, where we will be greeted with a Lao befitting beer! After all, you'll be taken back to your accommodation in a Tuk-Tuk.
