12 Days for Northern Loop Vietnam Motorbike Tour
Day 1. From Hanoi To Mai Chau
Route count: 170km
Duration: 5 hours ride
This is when you gather at the hotel and start our adventure at 8.00 AM. You will be soon transferred by bus to VietnamBikers's Garage, where you go to pick up your bike and ride the first day of the Northern Vietnam Motorbike Tour to Mai Chau village.
Along the ride route, you will encounter different types of roads, which can be good, small, or even dirt in the village way. The sceneries are so enchanting to see, with outstanding limestone and mountain views that will draw all your attention.
Then it’s time to have lunch, and you will camp somewhere shady and fresh to sit together and eat. In the afternoon, you will find some local houses and be their guest for the night. Don’t worry; we all have contacted them in advance, so be free to stay and have a cozy, welcoming dinner with them.
Day 2. From Mai Chau to Son La
Route count: 200km
Hours ride: 7 hours
You will keep on heading to the North, and there is an off-road that French people moved from the Indochina Wartime. On the ride way, you will have a chance to meet some minority communities from their villages and then have a nice lunch there.
Maybe when it is dark, you will end up at Son La. You will stay at a hotel and have a special meal for a long day ride.
Day 3. From Son La to Mu Cang Chai
Route Count: 180km
Duration: 6 hours ride
You will continue the trip and move to the Northeast. This time it can be hard as we will choose to ride the mountain route so that you can visit the largest hydro-electric station of VietNam on the Black River.
Mu Cang Chai has a Hot spring source for their signature food, and you will enjoy it at lunchtime if you want. Dinner and overnight will be at a homestay.
Day 4. From Mu Cang Chai to Sapa
Route: 200km
Duration: 5 hours ride
You will expect a smooth route entering the mountain areas here. From the top of Tram Ton Pass, it will give you an amazing overlook under the city below and a sea nearby.
You will eat dinner at a lovely hotel and then have a night over there for your rest that night.
Day 5. Sapa
Take your own time and travel to any place you like. Such as go trekking, riding around scenic villages or just relax in the homestay with herbal bath!
Day 6. From Sapa to Bac Ha
Route count: 240km
Duration: 8 hours ride
You will ride downhill to Lao Cai and see a Chinese border along the road.
At Lao Cai, you will rest and have lunch and head towards Bac Ha, and stay a night there.
Day 7. From Bac Ha to Ha Giang
Route Count: 240km
From Bac Ha, you will still follow the Chinese border. This place is breathtaking, with well-known thousands of steps of rice fields on the terraces. It’s a dream to have lunch here!
Still, you will have a night over at the hotel as planned.
Day 8. From Ha Giang to Ba Be Lake
Route Count: 240km
When you move through those two destinations, there are chances for us to encounter many passes. They are mountains over mountains which is such a wonderful view to ride along.
After having lunch, Hmong villages will welcome us to visit. You can also carry on motorbiking to Ba Be National park near here and visit this distinctive Vietnamese landscape and stay over a homestay.
Day 9. From Babe Lake to Lang Son
Route Count: 230km
If you want to join a boat for the Babe Lake tour and National Park, you can be there for a short visit. Then move back to the village and begin to ride to Lang Son.
To discover the ancient French route, you can go along the road, and there are many stops and villages to visit here.
Day 10. From Lang Son to Halong Bay
Route Count: 250km
If you get lucky, you can behold a spiritual Tam Thanh temple when it is open. Then return to ride along the Chinese border to look for a historical and divine road No 4.
After a long day riding and visiting some well-known spots, you will soon enter Halong City. It is time to take a break and have dinner.
Day 11. Halong Bay
There are some activities we will list for you to follow easily:
- 7 AM - 12 PM: free activities and travel around Halong City. You can choose to go to the market, beach or other places.
- 12 PM: start to check-in a boat cruise, sailing the fascinating Bay landscape while having lunch there.
- Some of the destinations you can look forward to: spectacular Dog-shaped islets, Fighting Cocks, Incense Urn, etc.
Day 12. From Halong Bay to Ha Noi
Route count: 170 km
After having a great time on the boat, you will soon be back and finish the trip. Returning to Hanoi by going through the Red River Delta.
It may be expected to arrive at Hanoi at 5 PM, and we call it an end.
