Tour Introduction

The Northern Vietnam Ténéré 700 Adventure is a premium 10-day ride across the north's most iconic mountain country — cloud-chasing ridgelines, terraced valleys, high passes and the legendary canyons of Ha Giang. On the Yamaha Ténéré 700, one of the most capable adventure bikes made, you'll roll from Hanoi through the peaceful valleys of Mai Chau, the misty peaks of Ta Xua and the golden terraces of Mu Cang Chai to alpine Sapa, before entering remote Ha Giang and its dramatic limestone formations, finishing at Ban Gioc waterfall and Ba Be Lake.

Covering around 1,750 km at an intermediate level, this Northern Vietnam Ténéré 700 Adventure is designed for riders who want epic curves and mountain peaks on a bike that flows effortlessly through them. Every stage is fully supported — a Ténéré 700 and fuel, an English-speaking guide, 3–4 star hotels and quality homestays, all meals, permits and backup transfers — with a full rest and maintenance day built into Sapa before the wildest riding begins.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 — Hanoi to Mai Chau

The Northern Vietnam Ténéré 700 Adventure leaves Hanoi for peaceful countryside of rice paddies and river valleys, the smooth curves of the Hoa Binh mountains letting the Ténéré settle into a clean, confident rhythm. Stilt-house villages dot the terraced hills as our guide leads the convoy on scenic routes that dodge the traffic, opening into Mai Chau's wide green valley with its cool evening air.

Distance: 140 km · Meals: Lunch, Dinner · Stay: 3–4★ hotel or homestay

Day 2 — Mai Chau to Ta Xua

The route climbs on long sweeping bends across forest ridges, the morning air turning crisp with elevation — ideal Ténéré 700 touring. Panoramic valleys and cloud belts frame the approach to Ta Xua, with ridge-top regroups for photos and safety checks, and mist drifting across the tarmac. The day ends in a small mountain village perched above the clouds.

Distance: 130 km · Meals: B, L, D · Stay: 3–4★ hotel or homestay

Day 3 — Ta Xua to Mu Cang Chai

Leaving Ta Xua's high ridges, you descend into rolling valleys before climbing into terrace country, the Ténéré flowing through long scenic passes with open views. Steady pacing through quiet ethnic districts leads to Mu Cang Chai, which appears like a giant amphitheatre of terraced hills stretching in every direction, in a calm rural setting.

Distance: 210 km · Meals: B, L, D · Stay: 3–4★ hotel or homestay

Day 4 — Mu Cang Chai to Sapa

A day of layered mountain views, terraced valleys and forest corridors climbing toward Sapa, mixing long steady bends with tighter hill passes for satisfying adventure-bike riding. Short scenic pauses overlook deep ridgelines and river-carved valleys as the air cools and the peaks rise, ending in the lively highland hub of Sapa.

Distance: 230 km · Meals: B, L, D · Stay: 3–4★ hotel or homestay

Day 5 — Sapa (Free Day)

A full rest day in Sapa — gentle valley loops, mountain-view cafés and local markets — while our team handles Ténéré 700 checks, chain cleaning and suspension adjustments after the high passes. A valuable reset before the more extreme northern regions, with a relaxed evening under quiet highland skies.

Distance: 0 km · Meals: B, L, D · Stay: 3–4★ hotel or homestay · Bike maintenance day

Day 6 — Sapa to Ha Giang

Descend through pine forests and rolling farmland into broader valleys as the terrain shifts into Ha Giang's limestone contours, the convoy flowing along smooth connectors made for adventure bikes. Terraced hills, small rivers and ethnic villages line the northward route; entering Ha Giang the air cools and the mountains sharpen — the gateway to Vietnam's most breathtaking riding.

Distance: 250 km · Meals: B, L, D · Stay: 3–4★ hotel or homestay

Day 7 — Ha Giang to Meo Vac

One of the most spectacular riding days in northern Vietnam, climbing dramatic passes and cliff-edge roads toward Dong Van with frequent panoramic regroups. The legendary Ma Pi Leng pass awaits — towering cliffs and a deep jade river carving through the canyon below — on a road of tight switchbacks and sweeping lines, ending in the rugged, atmospheric valley of Meo Vac.

Distance: 160 km · Meals: B, L, D · Stay: 3–4★ hotel or homestay

Day 8 — Meo Vac to Ban Gioc

Follow quiet mountain valleys and riverside districts as the landscape softens into lush borderland, the Ténéré stretching its legs on flowing roads. Through remote limestone forests, Ban Gioc emerges — the waterfall tumbling dramatically between cliffs and emerald pools, one of the north's most iconic sights — with a peaceful evening in the cool breeze off the water.

Distance: 250 km · Meals: B, L, D · Stay: 3–4★ hotel or homestay

Day 9 — Ban Gioc to Ba Be Lake

Head southwest through mountain districts where terraced farms and forested hills shape a relaxed, scenic flow along enjoyable backroads. Approaching Ba Be, the mountains pull apart to reveal broad blue water and quiet lakeside villages — a serene second-to-last stop with gentle breezes across the lake.

Distance: 150 km · Meals: B, L, D · Stay: 3–4★ hotel or homestay

Day 10 — Ba Be Lake to Hanoi

The final day blends valley roads, rural towns and open countryside back toward the capital at a comfortable pace on low-traffic backroads. Entering Hanoi marks the completion of a true northern epic — cloud ridges, terraces, peaks, canyons, waterfalls and lakes all in one Ténéré 700 journey.
