Offroad Motorbike Ta Xua Tour: 6-Day Itinerary

You can opt for an 11-day offroad motorbike tour Ta Xua. However, according to the feedback from many international tourists coming to Vietnam and my own experience, a 6-day trip is enough to discover the hidden beauty of the mountainous area in Vietnam. Let’s start!

Day 1: Hanoi - Pu Luong Motorbike Tour

My team and I had our breakfast and coffee under the pleasurable weather of Northern Vietnam in Hanoi before heading to conquer the challenging steep slopes on our way to Ta Xua. Our first destination on the Vietnam motorbike tour was Pu Luong, a nature reserve in Thanh Hoa province.

Escaping the bustling vibe in the capital, Hanoi, we went along the provincial road of Vietnam. The closer we got to Pu Luong, the quieter the atmosphere and traffic became. The spectacular scenery of Vietnam's mountainous area unfolded the longer we rode. After reaching a rustic village in Hoa Binh province, we spent a few hours refilling our energy with a meal cooked by ethnic people there and took a nap.

Great offoad riding To Pu Luong

We started to feel the real offroad ride in the afternoon. Many ethnic villages appeared in our view, and the temperature seemed to be a bit chillier than in Hanoi. Particularly, we could notice terrace fields, the unique beauty in Vietnam’s mountainous area that can be found nowhere. We ended our first day of the trip at a local homestay of Thai people. The rice wine at the dinner was excellent, but we didn’t drink too much for an early start the following day.

Day 2: Pu Luong - Phu Yen Motorbike Trip

No matter how sleepy and tired you are after a long-mile motorcycle ride, you can’t wake up late in farming villages due to the noise from people’s daily activities.

Luckily, an early wakeup rewarded us with the pristine nature of Vietnam with gorgeous landscapes. The spectacular scenery of the sunrise in Northern Vietnam will be an unforgettable moment in anyone’s life. After fulfilling our energy with breakfast, we moved on to explore the beautiful winding roads from Pu Luong to Phu Yen.

Thanks to the favorable weather conditions, we could easily complete nearly 200 km of the motorbike trip. Don’t forget to stop for some panoramic photos of the rice paddle fields covered in the limitless green color.

Day 3: Phu Yen - Ta Xua: Offroad Motorcycle Tour

On the third day of the motorbike tour Ta Xua, we arrived at the primary destination, Ta Xua. Ta Xua is a notable tourist attraction for people who fancy the mystery of cloudy weather combined with the majesty of the huge mountains.

We could nearly touch the clouds when riding offroad on our motorbikes in Ta Xua. At that moment, we understood why Ta Xua was considered a place for cloud hunters.

Day 3: Phu Yen - Ta Xua: Offroad Motorcycle Tour
Dirtbiking On The Peak Of Ta Xua Trail

We managed to reach the specially shaped mountain range called “Dinosaur Spine” in Ta Xua. Standing on the top of the “Dinosaur Spine” was like standing on the top of the world, where every grief and sorrow seemed vague. The mountainous area's magnificent and tranquil beauty will be within your vision.

However, the dirt tracks to the “Dinosaur Spine” can be a nightmare in adverse weather conditions. There’s no chance for adventure motorbike riders to control their bikes through the muddy routes to the “Dinosaur Spine.”

After taking in the beautiful nature of Ta Xua from the top of the “Dinosaur Spine,” we went to a hotel in Muong La Valley for dinner and accommodation.

Day 4: Muong La - Muong Lo Motorcycle Trip

On the trip's fourth day, we had to complete a 180 km motorcycle route from Muong La to Muong Lo. The route was full of curvy and steep roads alongside the giant mountains. During our rides, we could witness the daily activities of the ethnic people there.

Only when we traversed this path could we understand what was a real dirt road. The narrow and rough road slowed us down but could never stop our team from heading forward. The verdant foliage lining the road swayed gracefully in the breeze as if performing a delicate dance. Nearby, a babbling stream sang a melodious tune, its rhythms seeming to cheer us on as we ventured down the challenging, unpaved path.

The scenery on the fourth day was not different from the previous day, with the vast rice paddle fields, farming activities of people, majestic mountains, and winding roads. Yet, we were impressed with the Khau Pha Pass, which is 19 miles in length. The rugged terrains there literally delighted our adventurous souls and awakened our youth from its slumber.

Day 5: Muong Lo - Thac Ba Lake Motorbike Route

The fifth day was the time off from the offroad tracks, and we went to one of the most reputable lakes in Vietnam, Thac Ba Lake. We spent more than an hour riding from our homestay to Thac Ba Lake.

Relaxing on the boat floating around the Thac Ba Lake for more than an hour eliminated all the fatigue we got from the past few days on the curved and rough terrains of Northern Vietnam.

The fresh and cool temperature when we were at the center of the lake could be the remedy for all anyone’s stress and overthinking. We asked the boatman to stop to get plunged into the lake. If we had had more time, we would have gone fishing there and enjoyed our results.

We ended the fifth day with an appetizing meal made of Thac Ba Lake’s fish and drank rice wine with locals.

Day 6: Thac Ba Lake - Hanoi Motorcycle Tour

On our way back to the capital, Hanoi, we once again weaved through the tranquil ethnic villages and immense rice paddle fields. We still took time to capture more precious moments of the peaceful landscapes in Vietnam's mountainous area before returning to the bustling life.

The closer we reached Hanoi, the less rugged the offroad tracks on the route. For this reason, we opted for a smooth dyke road to speed up and experience idle ridings. We reached Hanoi during the rush hour, so we had to handle the crazy traffic there. In fact, traffic in Hanoi’s rush hour is an intense challenge for every amateur biker.

Bottom Lines

The offroad motorbike Ta Xua tour is a must-try tour for people with a keen passion for traveling on rough and rugged terrains of mountainous areas. The motorbike tour not only impresses you with the pristine, majestic, and tranquil beauty of Northern Vietnam’s nature but also with the hospitable local people and delectable dishes.
