What To Expect From Phonsavan Motorbike Tours?
Overview
Laos has gone through many changes and improvements recently, making it a popular place that attracts a large number of tourists.
Our main terrain will be off-road and asphalt in Laos and straight road in VietNam. Our transport vehicles will be motorbikes, rental or on your own, mostly Honda or Yamaha dirtbike.
The distance is about 600 kilometers in mileage. Daily driving is about 100 kilometers, not including visiting the scenery or village by the side of the road.
Plenty of flavourful local restaurants are on the road so that you can fill your belly with satisfaction anytime. Don't forget the driving protective gear that helps you enjoy all the stages of the journey to the fullest.
Day 1: Ha Noi – Mai Chau by motorbike
Kicking off motorcycle tours around 9 A.M after full-option breakfast is a smart choice to avoid traffic blocking Hanoi. Head to the west. We will arrive at Mai Chau.
Driving along Highway 6, you will see a theater-like scene with vast rice fields and large fields planted with colorful plants. Rows of tree-lined trees cut across the rice paddies and are punctuated by limestone karst scenery.
Taking a light lunch in Hoa Binh province to recharge energy, we will pass one of the most beautiful passes in Northern Vietnam, Thung Khe, with a glorious mountain along the way.
A valley appeals at the end of the road. When night falls, you can join in the dancing and try the local specialty Liquor (rice wine), then settle on Thai people's house-on-stilts or homestay to prepare for the next day.
Day 2: Mai Chau – Pu Luong Motorbike Tours
After a good morning meal to start the day, we ran to Pu Luong Nature Reverse. This site is in Quan Hoa and Ba Thuoc district, which belongs to Thanh Hoa province, Northern coastal of VietNam.
There is a double-parallel mountain ridge around this place, divided by a large valley filled with villages with high density and rich culture. Pu Luong is enchanted by immense biodiversity, including flora and fauna, which make it similar to nearby Cuc Phuong National Park.
The next step is to Quan Hoa - a district of Thanh Hoa province that belongs to the Northern coastal region. With an area of 996 square kilometers in total, this is a great destination for those who want to camp.
The crystal clear Quan Son Lake and the surrounding undulating mountains create an extremely relaxing scene for you to take a rest after a long trip. You can rent a tent with self-prepared food to close a day at a camp.
Day 3: Pu Luong – Na Meo by motorbike
We will jump in a saddle to Na Meo (or Na Meow), a town on the edge of Thanh Hoa province, belonging to the central VietNam coastal region.
The next stop is ViengXai, where you can learn history through ancient caves tinged with time. People here are quite friendly, and the village is beautiful with stunning flora all year.
You can rest at a hotel or homestay here. Its friendly and approachable atmosphere will dispel your fatigue after a long North Vietnam motorbike journey.
Day 4: Na Meo – Phonsavan by motorbike
Wake up early to start a long journey. After breakfast, we start the journey from Samneau to Phonsavan. The first scenery is Hin Tung standing stone, or for more chilling, the hot spring at Piew cave in Kham district is a genuine choice.
Our destination, Phonsavan, in Xieng Khouang province capital town, is located in northeastern Laos and is a gateway to the Plain of Jars. Visit the UXO office before going to the Plains of Jars.
Plain of Jars is also a remarkable option for those who have rustic-hobby. This site contains clusters of colossal, millennia sandstone jars with unknown origins.
Proceed a half-day trip to Muankhoun to visit an old provincial capital - home of some unique sitting giant buddha belonging to old pagodas. You can sleep deeply in a hotel or homestay in Xieng Khouang for the next day. Today could be the highlight of Motorbike Tours Laos.
Day 5: Phonsavanh – Vang Vieng by motorbike
Motorbiking to Vang Vieng, Travelers will enjoy the unique and colorful natural landscape around here. The long and wide path plus a good surface allows you to adjust the speed freely and capture all the scenery in sight.
Reaching the town of Phou Khoun, turn left and begin to descend changing terrain to see vast limestone cliffs reach out to the sky as winding your way to the central valley.
You can visit the Tham Nam, Tham Chang, and Tham Khan cave trio by boat or go along the side. Namxay viewpoint is also a good choice with a view of the thousands of mountains, forests, and typical terraced fields here.
Stay the night at the guest house or a hotel in Vang Vieng to have the best condition for the last day of the motorbike trips in Laos.
Day 6: Vang Vieng – Vientiane by motorbike
The scene gradually changes from alluring in Vang Vieng to mosaic when out of there. The city is also an interesting place to learn about Buddhism's culture and temples, a famous feature in Loaf. You can ask for a lucky charm or a reference for fortune-telling here.
Otherwise, go outside the urban, crowded place, then proceed to go further to Paksan to enjoy more of the beautiful scenery in Laos. Today could be the most scenic Laos motorbike riding.
