Motorcycle Adventure Tour Vietnam To Laos
We divided the journey into three main parts, which we’ll tell you below.
The first leg: Motorcycle Tour Vietnam To Laos
Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau (180km)
The ideal place we started the journey would be in Ha Noi - the capital of Viet Nam. From there, we went the west to Mai Chau valley by motorbike and enjoyed the beautiful landscapes of the mountains, and fields, as well as houses on stilts gathered around the foot of the mountain.
Mai Chau is the hometown of Thai ethnic people. Besides enjoying sightseeing, we also took part in some traditional activities of the Thai ethnic minority and slept in a house-on-stilts.
Day 2: Mai Chau – Border – Sam Nua (200km)
From Mai Chau valley, we went through immigration procedures through Sam Nua - the capital of Huaphanh province - initially set foot in the country of millions of elephants.
The second part: Laos Motorcycle Tours
Day 3: Sam Nua – Luang Prabang (391 km)
Laos motorcycle tours started at Sam Nua, and then we reached Xieng Khoang. Along the way, we saw many beautiful hills and valleys.
Next, from Xieng Khoang we rode to Luang Prabang city to rest and would explore this place on the day after.
Day 4: Relaxing In Luang Prabang
Luang Prabang is famous for the UNESCO Town Of Luang Prabang World Heritage Site and the romantic Mekong River.
Some unique and famous tourist destinations in Luang Prabang we visited are Luang Prabang Old Town, Xieng Thong Pagoda, Kuang Si Waterfall, PhouSi Mountain, Wat Mai Temple, and Pak Ou Caves.
Especially you can also join the morning beggars of monks - an early morning cultural activity in Luang Prabang.
Day 5: Luang Prabang – Vang Vieng (200km)
Leaving Luang Prabang, we continued the journey riding to Vang Vieng. During the moving process, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery on both sides of the road with mountains, plains, and rice fields.
Day 6: Vang Vieng – Vientiane (150km)
During the day, we stopped to visit Nam Ngum Lake. Arriving in Vientiane, we explored some famous destinations like Wat Sisaket, Wat Si Muang, Wat Prakeo, That Luang monument, and Vientiane’s Victory Monument.
Day 7: Vieng Chan – Xavanakhet (460 km)
On the fifth day in Laos, we left Vieng Chan to go to Xavanakhet to visit That Luang tower and the Dinosaur museum. Also enjoy delicious food like Savannakhet chicken, Baguette crispy bread and so on.
Day 8: Xavanakhet – Khe Sanh (Vietnam) About 150km
From Xavanakhet, we moved to the Densavanh border gate for exit procedures and to Lao Bao for entry procedures into Vietnam. Then, from Lao Bao, we drove to the hotel in Khe Sanh to rest overnight.
The final leg: Vietnam Motorcycle Tours
Day 9: Khe Sanh – Hue (200km)
After breakfast, we continued the trip and stopped at Khe Sanh Combat Base during Vietnam War. Then, we drove east and north in about three hours to visit the Hien Luong bridge on the Ben Hai River.
Next, we stopped at Vinh Moc Tunnels, which sheltered about 300 villagers during the war. After that, we went straight to Hue imperial city.
Day 10: Relaxing In Hue
Hue is known as a peaceful city that is very suitable for relaxation. We spent the whole day 10 here to discover famous destinations and enjoy food.
There are many beautiful places in Hue you can visit, such as Dong Ba market, Huong river, Trang Tien bridge, Thien Mu pagoda, Phu Cam church, the Hue imperial city, and so on.
In the evening, we took a stroll along the banks of the Perfume River to admire the scenery and had a snack.
Day 11: Hue – Hoi An (160km)
Leaving Hue, we rode to Hoi An ancient town to finish Vietnam motorcycle tours as well as the motorbike journey from Vietnam to Laos.
We passed through Hai Van Pass, and stopped to take pictures and admire the majestic nature.
After going through the pass, we went to Da Nang city to rest and entertain for a few hours and then drove straight to Hoi An.
We enjoyed the rest of the time in Hoi An and came back to Ha Noi soon after.
