Motorbiking Ha Giang Loop: 3-Day Itinerary
For first-time travelers, we recommend you take a 3-day tour to ride Ha Giang loop, which should be enough to introduce the stunning province to its visitors and make sure that you’re not too overwhelmed. This is mostly because Ha Giang is a relatively remote area of Vietnam, and the local infrastructure hasn’t been so developed. Now, let us spill the tea and drive you back to the time we traveled there!
Transfer From Hanoi to Ha Giang City
We started our tour in the Ha Giang loop by motorbike the night before, and our team took a luxury sleeper bus from Noi Bai Airport (if you want the bus to pick you up at any of your hotels in the Old Quarter, just let them know) to Ha Giang City. The comfortable night trip allowed us to enjoy the time, chill in, and have proper rest before heading on our journey.View allHa Giang Loop Motorbike Tours2023
The bus reached Ha Giang City at dawn. You’ll have the option to rest a little bit and start to get on with your loop. Or, you can wait a day in the city before traveling on your bike. As we were so excited about the motorbike tour, our crew decided to gear up and hop on our bikes right away.
Day 1 – From Ha Giang City to Dong Van Motorcycle Trip
Our motorbike tours Ha Giang departed at milestone number zero, which marks the northernmost part of Vietnam and is located at the center of the city. From there, we winded along the 4C route to Doc Bac Sum Mountain Peak, where the most majestic view of the surrounding nature wowed us a lot. Following the route to Quan Ba Heaven Gate, another great viewpoint unfurled to feast our eyes.We kept moving until reaching Can Ty Commune, and we made a stop at Doc Can Ty to contemplate the full view of the Lo River and its surrounding mountains and villages. Our next destination after fulfilling our lungs with fresh air there was Yen Minh District, where our crew would enjoy our lunch. We rested a little bit and stopped to refuel if needed. Then, continue to Doc Tham Ma and Doc Chin Khoanh, only about 10 km from the district. Once again, we admired the natural charm of the land before we headed to Lung Cam Cultural Tourist Village.

Here, you can experience the local cultures and lifestyles as you explore life in the village like we did. How could we forget to visit the famous “Story of Pao” film site inside the village? There were many ethnic minority children there selling flower hair wreaths. We came across a girl named Dua who had an ever-present beaming smile. She gave us her hand-made hair wreaths, made from wild flowers, and took a photo for us. It seemed like everyone there was so hospitable. We then entered the Vuong Clan’s Mansion, which was once the place where the ethnic royals of Ha Giang resided. Before the sun finally set, we made our final ride of the day, 15km from the Vuong Clan’s Mansion to Dong Van District. Here, we were free to explore the locals’ nightlife before returning to our hotel and preparing for our second day.
Day 2 – From Dong Van to Meo Vac and Pa Vi Motorbike Tour
Instead of enjoying our early breakfast at the hotel, we chose to experience the local cuisines – full of signature dishes at rock-bottom prices. The motorcycle tour would then take us to Lung Cu Flag Point. This is a must-go destination for Vietnamese tourists due to their sense of nationality. If you travel here, we suggest spending your morning here since the spot probably has one of the best views throughout the journey, which you wouldn’t want to miss at all.

Next, our team returned to Dong Van District to have lunch and moved on to the famous Ma Pi Leng Ravine, with the most thrilling mountain passes and breath-taking views of the Nho Que River. We, of course, stopped and took as many pictures and selfies as we could. You can challenge yourself by going on the mountain passes or getting down to the Nho Que River for a once-in-a-lifetime trip on boats. As our crew still had ample time, we decided to explore both spots. After having fun, our motorbike tour continued just a few kilometers to Pavi villages, where there were many homestays to choose from. If you don’t like to rest here like us, you can get to the Meo Vac District, which isn’t that far away. Regardless of your choice, stop and stay the night before the final day of the motorbike trip.
Day 3 – From Meo Vac District back to Ha Giang City and Hanoi Motorcycle Tour
On the third day, we moved back to Ha Giang City, but the different routes gave us the same, if not better, experiences. Following Route 176 from Meo Vac to Mau Due for about 35 km, we usually stopped and catched a breath of beautiful nature on the go.From Route 176, our motorbiking tour made a turn to Route 181, which took us to Lung Tam Valley. Here, we visited the Lung Tam Linen Cooperative Village and saw how the locals make their traditional clothes. Don’t forget to get yourself and your family a few souvenirs from the village! We regretted not doing so!We then returned to Quan Ba District, where we could rest and have lunch. Our team took a stroll around to visit any spots we were interested in because we had to come back to Ha Giang City before the evening. We enjoyed our last night in the city, and the Vietnam motorbike tour concluded when we were transferred to Hanoi. But if you don’t have time, just take your sleeper bus to Hanoi right at night.
